Riv is turning 40!

Forty years ago, a ragtag group of men and women moved to East Lansing to launch what has become Riverview Church. Over those years, we moved around the campus of Michigan State University like a bunch of nomads until we finally settled in our first permanent location in Holt in 2001. Since then, we have launched three more venues across the Lansing area.

In the past forty years, we have changed a lot. People have come and gone (and come back again). We have experimented with different styles of music and tried lots of different ways to reach people for Jesus.

But some things haven’t changed.

We are (and always have been) passionately committed to proclaiming the liberating power of the Gospel of Jesus.

We are (and always have been) doggedly passionate about passing this Gospel message to new generations.

We are (and always have been) all about facing outward into our community and world, living on mission instead of for ourselves.

For the next three weeks, we are going to talk about these things as we look back at the last 40 years and dream about what God may do in the next 40 (and beyond).

We’ll see you at Riv!
